GEA Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards 2018
Since its founding in 2012, the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance has officially represented the voices of entrepreneurs among close to 200,000 Georgetown alumni. The GEA is proud to confer the Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards for the GEA Entrepreneur of the year and Excellence Awards, celebrating the contributions of alumni entrepreneurs that embody and exemplify the spirit of men and women for others and a passion for innovation.
The Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance is currently seeking nominations for the GEA Entrepreneur of the Year and Annual Excellence Awards celebrating alumni in the tech, retail, hospitality, social impact areas and one rising star in the entrepreneurial world. This will be the 6th year of celebrating the GEA Entrepreneur of the Year Award and 2nd year of the Excellence Awards.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award is the highest honor bestowed to Georgetown entrepreneurs. The full slate of awards will be presented at the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance Excellence Awards Celebration in Washington, DC on Thursday, September 20, 2018.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award is the highest honor bestowed to Georgetown entrepreneurs and is given to the entrepreneur who, on top of excelling in entrepreneurship, embodies the spirit of Georgetown while doing so. Please provide company website if appropriate.
This award is given to individuals or organizations that are either Hoya owned/ operated/ founded/ cofounded, recognizing excellence in a retail or consumer product business. Please provide company website if appropriate.
This award is given to individuals or organizations that are either Hoya owned/ operated/ founded/ cofounded recognizing excellence in the restaurant business and/or food/ beverage sector. Please provide company website if appropriate.
This award recognizes a Hoya owned/ operated/ founded/ cofounded startup or small business (either for-profit or non-profit) whose mission and core values remain at the forefront of all business decisions and may include a 1:1 give-back model, percentage donated to charity, environmentally/ socially responsible product or service, etc. Please provide company website if appropriate.
This award recognizes excellence in the tech sector and may include any Hoya owned/ operated/ founded/ cofounded business or operation that services finance, social, education, enterprise wearables, mobile, social and government sector that is providing a disruptive technical innovation. Please provide company website if appropriate.
This award is given to a newly minted Hoyapreneur, showing excellence in contribution, commitment and passion. Nominees are eligible if they are either: a) younger than 30, or b) demonstrably have been in small-business/ startups/ entrepreneurship for fewer than five years.
Nominations will be collected through Friday, June 1, 2018 at 5pm ET and the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Alliance board will make a final selection of the award winner. Nominations submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Please note: past nominations do NOT roll over year-to-year so please resubmit any previous nominations.
+ REQUIREMENTS FOR AWARDEES
- Must be an alumnus of Georgetown University
- Must have founded or co-founded a company
- Must be present to accept the award
- If the company was founded by multiple Georgetown alumni, all may be nominated together for an award
+ JUDGING CRITERIA
- Evidence of growth & financial success of the company such as revenue generated, capital raised, market leadership etc.
- Level of innovation
- Demonstration of positive impact of business
- Tie to Georgetown's mission and Jesuit values
- Service to entrepreneurial community
- Service to Alma Mater
